Dal momento che "white sugar" è anche un nome della droga White Claudia, si è pensato che la canzone potrebbe anche riferirsi alla dipendenza di Walter Sullivan per la PTV, ciò che lo ha portato a credere così ciecamente alle teorie dell'Ordine. Tuttavia questa ipotesi sembra più improbabile, ed è molto più plausibile "white sugar" sia piuttosto una metafora del desiderio di Walter per il latte materno, come suggerisce la frase "mother's sugar always loves me".
