A Stray Child is a song from Silent Hill 3 and is track 9 on the soundtrack. The song was composed by Akira Yamaoka. In the game, the first part of the song plays after the shift to the Otherworld in the mall, in the hallway with Double Heads, and the second part plays in the alternate Hilltop Center when Heather Mason meets Vincent Smith for the first time.
"A Stray Child" also appears in the Silent Hill film. It plays during the scene where Rose Da Silva discovers the abyss.
In Silent Hill 4: The Room, an alternate version of the first portion of the song is used in the Water Prison (on the staircase with the Wall Men). A similar distorted-guitar riff (in the same key as "A Stray Child"'s riff) can be heard in a section of Silent Hill 2's labyrinth, as well as at the end of the track "Ashes and Ghost" on the game's soundtrack album.
