The Ampoule is an obtainable item in Silent Hill, Silent Hill 2, Silent Hill 3, Silent Hill 4: The Room, and Silent Hill: Origins. The ampoule is a rare and powerful healing item in the games they appear in. It will completely heal the playable protagonist, with the exception of Silent Hill 4: The Room. In Silent Hill 3, the ampoule also restores Heather Mason's stamina.
In Silent Hill: Homecoming, the ampoule is replaced by the serum. It is a powerful healing item that completely restores Alex Shepherd's health and also increases his maximum health.
Etymology[]
The word "ampoule" refers to a small sealed glass vial, the neck of which must be broken to transfer the liquid medicine inside to an unsealed vial (or, now more rarely, to a hypodermic needle). In Silent Hill, ampoules come with a hypodermic needle with which to administer the solution.[citation needed] The solution in the series is not directly identified, but its effects include limited tissue regeneration, increased clotting, energy increasing effects, and powerful pain-killers.
