The brother of Angela Orosco is a character mentioned in Silent Hill 2.
History[]
Angela Orosco grew up with her mother, father, and brother. After suffering repeat sexual abuse from her father, she stabbed him to death and fled the scene. She made her way to Silent Hill, Maine, where her subconscious thoughts were manifested into physical form. She came to believe that she would find her family in the town and her father alive.
In the Otherworld, a man named James Sunderland crossed paths with her and experienced her manifestations filtered through his psyche,[3] including a monster known as Abstract Daddy, which represented her father, brother,[4][5][6] and trauma from sexual abuse.[7][8] After killing it in self-defense, he encountered her again in Lakeview Hotel where she searched for her mother, whom she remarked was "the only one left". Two frames hung in the stairway, which also represented her father and brother.[1]
In other media[]
The mentions of Angela's brother and appearances of Abstract Daddy and the framed figures appear in adaptations of Silent Hill 2, including the novelization by Sadamu Yamashita and 2024 video game by Bloober Team.
Behind the scenes[]
Abstract Daddy and the framed figures were designed by Masahiro Ito, who took inspiration from BDSM culture.[9][10] The former was designed without a face because, within the game's narrative, James had never met Angela's father or brother.[11]
