The town they call "Silent Hill".
Lost Memories Silent Hill Chronicle - page 003 - introduction

Despite its prominent reputation as a scenic tourist spot,

its history includes the forced removal of natives, savage executions,

and an unexplained epidemic that once plagued the soil.

Toluca Lake lies in the heart of town.

A thick fog always shrouds the area, spreading from its waters,

blurring the lines of reality and fantasy to all who arrive.

According to some of those arrivals,

they swear to have seen certain "things"--

the kind of "things" that defy the very laws of nature.

Historically, a great number of events have occurred in town,

leaving just as many questions behind in their wake,
which have never been truly explored.

So now, it's time to reflect on all that's happened,
and unravel these mysteries one-by-one.

Lost Memories Silent Hill Chronicle - page 003 - introduction

Trivia

  • This document appears to be the first concentrated effort to compile all known data from the franchise, given that a story bible was not created by this point.[1]
  • The document is commonly referred to by the fan name, the "Book of Lost Memories". This incorrect name is also given to the book in Silent Hill 2 and 3.
  • There have been various criticisms of the document over the years, such as the time discrepancy relating to Harry's wife in the "History of Silent Hill" section and the lack of information on the illusive Newspaper from 7 years ago file.

It appears to me that there were many notes, but they were not in one place for all staff to see." A: "We didn't have such a thing."
