Silent Hill: Return is a 2019 pachislot game published by Konami Gaming, Inc.. It is an adaptation of Silent Hill 3, serving as a follow-up to Pachislot Silent Hill and released concurrently with Silent Hill: Escape.

Development and gameplay[]

In August 2019, Konami renewed the Silent Hill trademark in the United States and Canada.[1][2] On October 8, they officially announced new pachislot games, loosely based on Silent Hill 3 and Downpour, respectively titled Return and Escape.[3] The games utilize the DIMENSION 49J cabinet. Tom Jingoli, executive vice president of Konami Gaming, Inc., explained in a press release "This cabinet is a combination of sleek entertainment, premium packaging, and player comfort. Everything, including its shape, screens, betting surface, and available merchandising, has been engineered to maximize both player experience and operational results."[4]

The cinematic content of Return depicts Heather Mason journeying through the foggy streets of Silent Hill, Maine and battling a variety of monsters, including the Bogeyman, Screamers, and Weeping Bats. The footage is accompanied by music from the series composed by Akira Yamaoka. The interactivity consists of slot machine conventions: a game of chance in which a screen displaying three or more reels "spins" when the machine is activated. The objective is to make the reels align with each other, which constitutes a win. The player has the opportunity to unlock a "bonus game," themed around a confrontation between Heather and the Bogeyman.
