These are the secrets and unlockables in Bloober Team's rendition of Silent Hill 2.
Secrets[]
- Giant scissors above one of the establishments on Katz Street may be a reference to Pyramid Head's Great Knife backstory.[citation needed]
Calendars.
- Calendars found in garages and Heaven's Night show the month of November 1983.
- In Silent Hill 2, Maria finds a calendar with the month of November marked on it, which she believes is from ten years prior to the game's events.[1]
- Maria can occasionally be seen in the save menu.[2]
- Televisions in Wood Side Apartments are marked as being manufactured in May 1989.[3]
Unlockables[]
"UFO" ending[]
Requires Blue Gem to be obtained. The item can be found in one of displays in Silent Jewelers on Neely Street. The player must investigate the Blue Gem from the Key Items menu in the Inventory in the following locations[4]:
- On the roof of Saul Street Apartments.
- On the pier in Rosewater Park.
- On the pier near the Lakeview Hotel.
- In room 312 of the Lakeview Hotel.
"Rebirth" ending[]
An ending where James attempts to revive his dead wife. In order to get the "Rebirth" ending, the player must beat the game at least once. Start a "New Game +" and collect the four extra items:
"Dog" ending[]
In order to receive the "Dog" ending, the player must beat the game at least once. Start a "New Game +" and collect two parts of the dog key:
Weapons[]
Chainsaw[]
The chainsaw can be obtained during "New Game +". It is acquired near Silent Hill Ranch after leaving Toluca Graveyard.
Glimpses of the Past[]
Glimpses of the Past are areas that directly refer to events, items, locations of Silent Hill 2 that were omitted or changed in Bloober Team's rendition.
Strange Photos[]
Strange Photos are a group of polaroid photos that James can find during his journey to Silent Hill. Collecting all 26 photos unlocks the “Pieces Unarranged” achievement.[5]
On November 3, 2024, Reddit user DaleRobinson posted on the forum that the photos are part of a hidden puzzle with a secret message. Each photo, in addition to having a specific name in the inventory, has a hidden number that the player has to discover by investigating them, such as the numbers of windows, birds or holes that appear in each of them. If the player counts each number in the photo names, a letter is obtained. When all 26 letters are combined, the message "YOU'VE BEEN HERE FOR TWO DECADES" is obtained.[6] On the same day, Creative Director Mateusz Lenart confirmed that the photos were, in fact, part of a secret puzzle. Additionally, Lenart added that "there was a theory in our company that the puzzle might be too hard".[7]

- Otherworld Brookhaven Hospital, room C5 where Maria stayed in the drawer near the bed.
- Labyrinth, bottom layer of the rotating room after returning to Crossroads section, where the cube is, for the second time.
- Wood Side Apartments room 102 on the teacart near the window.
- Moonlight Grove small fountain on the side.
- Silent Hill Fresh Meats on Neely Street, display glass needs to be smashed to get the photo.Inaccessible during night.
- Wood Side Apartments, room 210 on the one of the windowsills.
- Reverie Theater, on one of the seats few rows behind where Eddie sitts.
- Brookhaven Hospital, Observation room's desk onth 2nd floor.
- Katz Street and Neely Street crossing during night, in the car parked near Lucky Jade Restaurant.
- Blue Creek Apartments, Clock Room's bedroom after solving Butterfly Puzzle.
- Heaven's Night on one of the mirrors in the dressing room.
- Otherworld Brookhaven hospital's pool on the 1st floor on the bench.
- Rosewater Park west section after meeting Maria, on one of the seating areas on the right from the gates.
- Toluca Prison cell E13 in the Serpent Section.
- Blue Creek Apartments, first floor of the stairwell.
- Silent Hill Historical Society, in one of the display cases near Little Baroness picture.
- Brookhaven Hospital, 1st floor Exam Room 1 in the drawer. The room becomes accessible after obtaining Inner Ward Key.
- Labyrinth, Desolate area, the rooms above Pyramid Head room, needs to use ladder that is not fenced with bars to get there.
- A Garage near Rosewater Park, requires jack handle to be obtained near the Octantis Fuels Gas Staion's back parking lot. The photo can be obtained during day or night.
- Lakeview Hotel room 104, in the drawer.
- Lakeview Hotel after watching the tape, in the sink where room 302 should be, behind the heavy cart.
- Toluca Prison, Boar Section's Warehouse, the photo is on the desk.
- Dock area after fight with Eddie.
- Lakeview Hotel, Venus Tears Bar, liquor shelf.
- Final Battle area stairs, flooded end of the stairs to the right from the door.
