Plot[]

Chapter 1: NIGHTMARE[]

Covers events of the nightmare and Heather Mason trying to escape the Mall.

Chapter 2: MY SWEET HOME[]

The chapter starts after the mall transforms to its normal state, and Heather has a talk with Douglas. Heather takes the subway home, then through underpass and building that is under construction finally gets home, where she finds her father dead. Heather kills the monster, and than with Douglas leaves for Silent Hill. The chapter ends with Heather reading Harry's diary.

Chapter 3: LURKING PLACE[]

Covers Heather's visit to the hospital.

Chapter 4: CHURCH[]

Heather goes through the amusement park to the church, where the final events take place.

Novel and game differences[]

  • The novel has several POV sections of other characters e.g. Harry, Douglas, Claudia.
  • The nightmare ends differently with Valtiel reviving Heather.
  • Heather's last name and her father's name are revealed almost in the beginning of the novel.
  • Some details of Heather's childhood:
    • Harry trained Heather to shoot, walk in dark.
    • Heather doesn't have driving licence.
  • Douglas shows his detective licence to Heather during their first encounter.
  • It is said that Halo of the Sun in the restroom look like it was drawn with lipstick, but has the eerie appearance of dried blood.
  • In the novel a victim of the Closer in the shop is actually security guard hence Hather finds a handgun and bullets around.
  • Heather recognizes the monster from her dream in the game however she doesn't comment on this matter simply saying it's monster.
  • It's revealed Harry has progressive liver cancer, though scene with burning liver is not present in the novel, Insane Cancer do appear.
  • Unlike in Silent Hill (novel) Harry's wife Jodie died four years before he goes with Cheryl to Silent Hill.
  • There are several differences about the subway station:
    • Heather is confused not recognizing the station, saying that there should've been only two platforms, one for each direction, but she gets to wrong platforms.
    • Heather encounters Valtiel on the ceiling above the tracks.
    • There are no Insane cancers in the subway, the first appears much later.
  • Heather goes through underpass and sewers off-screen.
  • There is scene where Harry meets Claudia and dies fighting the Missionary.
  • All Hilltop Center except for the clinic is omitted from the novel, so there some differences with the game:
    • Shift to the nightmare happens on the construction site, where Heather encounters Insane cancer, and Heather actually doesn't kill it, the floor just collapses below monster's feet when it tries to pursue Heather and it falls to a lower floor, dying after that.
    • No Glutton quest, no burning liver puzzle. Heather just reaches the entrance and push the door thus leaving the location.
  • There is Vincent's POV scene where he lays out tarrot cards and his career past is reaveled a little.
  • Fitght with the Missionary:
    • Heather actually shoots Claudia but misses.
    • Silencer plays important role in defeating the monster, unlike in the game she takes it from her father, who always kept his handgun with silencer.
  • It took two night for Heather and Douglas to reach Silent Hill.
  • Heather encounters Pendulum for the first time only on the streets of the town.
  • Brookhaven Hospital:
    • Stanley Coleman is not present in the novel.
    • Heather finds magazine article about Hope House and reads it.
    • No nurses figures are seen when Heather climbs the ladder in the room with Valtiel.
    • Slurper is encountered in the hospital for first time.
    • Leonard suggests Heather to punish Claudia by killing her which makes Heather feel uneasy, because thinking over this she wasn't ready to go that far, so she starts to argue with Leonard.
    • Heather has resurfaced Alessa's memories about Leonard and Claudia, which plays important role in Heather's motivation to kill Leonard.
    • Heather wakes in S12 not C4 after defeating Leonard.
  • Scene of Douglas and Claudia meeting in the park is close to the one in the game but is expanded:
    • According to discription it was one of the Scrapers who attacked Douglas.
    • During their diolog Claudia sheds some light on the town's power:

Claudia: "Do you know about the mysterious power residing in Silent Hill?" Claudia said. "It allows monsters to manifest from a person's thoughts."

Douglas: "Did you create this filthy creature?"

Claudia: "Both of us did."

Douglas: "What?"

Claudia: "My desire and your fear combined to give this monster its form."

Douglas: "Fear... mine?"

Douglas stared at the monster, its eyes glaring back from under the burlap. They were filled with hatred, like the eyes of a rebellious teenager.

Douglas: "You..."

Douglas recoiled, shaken by the memories surfacing from deep within him.

"Kill him!" Claudia commanded the monster in a triumphant voice.

    • The monster sent by Claudia seems to have Douglas son's face.
  • The car on the Roller Coaster comes from behind when Heather on the track.
  • Some info about Douglas's past:
    • He is a former police officer.
    • He had a son, Daniel and wife, Katherine.
    • Douglas was not present when his son attempted to rob the bank and was shot, he is informed afterwards by his superior.
    • This event led to divorce with his wife.
  • No confession scene in the novel.
  • Vincent in fact bought his high position in the cult through big donations to the organization. He did it because he was bored and fed up with his previous life and career.
  • Claudia points out that the seal won't work because it's small and therefore can't make much harm or any harm at all.
  • Valtiel pulls Heather when she passes out after battle with The god.
