Defenstration[]

I looked at this before and 'defenestration' is the act of 'throwing' ones-self, or others, out of a window. The references I see regarding this term deems is a 'forceful' act, whereas Amy's case was an accident. I don't think defenestration applied to 'falling' out of a window. What do you think? I haven't found a clear answer on this yet, but Wikipedia's list for it also mentions a lawyer who accidentally killed himself while trying to test window safety. Would "accidental defenestration" be better? I just don't want to lose this opportunity to use such a cool word. —AlexShepherd 09:12, May 18, 2012 (UTC)
That lawyer you're talking about has a funny story connected to him. The offices were installed with a special type of glass, which was believed to be unbreakable. The lawyer wanted to impress his colleagues with a prank, by running up to the window and hurling himself at it; he bounced back, much to his colleagues relief.
After the initial scare, his colleagues encouraged him to do it again!, which he did, not realising that the glass 'was' breakable, and that his constant use of the prank had worn it down so much that he fell straight through, falling about 13 stories to his death.
Technically, he 'threw' himself out of the window, regardless of whether or not he wanted to die. I do agree that defenestration is an awesome word, and I think there's benefit for letting people explore the meaning. I'll leave it up to you. Mechanoise 09:37, May 18, 2012 (UTC)
Ah, I see... kind of a sad way to die. :/ Reminds me of the show "1000 Ways to Die" - pretty awesome, but at the same time, very morbid. Anyway, I think I'll leave it be unless someone wants to be really technical. In the long run, I doubt it matters much. —AlexShepherd 10:48, May 18, 2012 (UTC)
I havent played Born from Wish but I dont understand how someone falls from a window while trying to retrieve a birthday card. Was the card floating in mid air outside the window when she tried to grab it...I mean what? Either this was an ill conceived scenario on the devs part or the wiki isnt explaining it clearly Bettercriticals (talk) 01:10, May 1, 2016 (UTC)
The game just doesn't go into detail, but if I remember correctly, the card is under a chair and the chair is right beside a window, so I assume she slipped and fell. —AlexShepherd 01:22, May 1, 2016 (UTC)
