Removal of DMC Trivia[]
In my opinion, we should delete this Trivia. It's dumb and the similarities aren't strong enough to deserve an out-of-universe mention on this wiki.
- "both creatures are made from inanimate objects statues/Manniquens, they are reminiscent of spiders" - So any monster ever made resembling a spider can be added here?
- "and given life from dark magic infused by an unknown caster." - Not even significant, and it implies someone casted magic in Silent Hill to create this monster, which doesn't even happen.
- "They don't speak" - Wow (sarcasm)
- "They attack for a personal purpose" - The Mannequin Monster doesn't really "attack for a personal purpose". It's a monster, it attacks out of instinct.

I can't speak for the original author (although his stance should be clear), but in my opinion it should be kept on the article. The similarities are noteworthy enough to make a connection between the two, namely in their location and physical appearance.
- Both creatures are made from inanimate objects, which are reminiscent of spiders. This is true.
- They are given life by a dark force, in the case of Silent Hill it can be read as the town of Alessa herself. Unknown in this instance refers to Heather's point of view, which is that this is an unknown entity coming from who the fuck knows.
- They don't speak, this is true.
- The purpose of the attack, even if purely instinctual, is a purpose unto itself.
The section does not claim that the Mannequin was inspired by the Enigma, it merely notes the similarities between the two. It's in the trivia section, and is an appropriate piece of trivia which does not in any way detract from the main article. --MurphyPendleton :D 19:10, August 28, 2016 (UTC)
Here's my stance, if shit like how someone from Elfen Lied is similar to Angela is allowed on the Wikia, (which even then I personally oppose) this should be allowed to stay, don't remove one piece and keep other similar pieces of stuff we have akin to that.

- This isn't how we do things. According to the manual of style, we deal with Trivia on a case-by-case basis. We don't do an "all or nothing" approach.
- For example, there are actually strong and noteworthy similarities to Alessa Gillespie and Aggie from ParaNorman since they're both "innocent witches" who were burned in New England and share a strong physical appearance, and are both voiced by Jodelle Ferland.
- This, on the other hand, is like comparing a Lying Figure from Silent Hill 2 to a Goomba in Mario based on the facts that both are brown, aggressive and have big feet. This kind of comparison is dumb. —AlexShepherd ツ 20:47, August 28, 2016 (UTC)

- The Manual of Style is literally the guideline of this wiki which all admins and editors should abide to. You can't just say "iduncare". The case-by-case Trivia has been a wiki rule for essentially two years. If you want to propose a change to the Manual of Style, then go ahead. However, the idea that all out-of-universe similarities (no matter how strong or weak they are) must be entirely kept or entirely discarded is asinine and stupid and I don't see the logic. —AlexShepherd ツ 20:58, August 28, 2016 (UTC)

Did you "propose" the changes you made, or did you just make it all up on your own without consulting anyone? The latter, I believe. This is why that argument is invalid: the rules represent your own opinion. I could re-write the whole MoS right now, put a bunch of rules in and attempt to enforce my will on the wiki, but that doesn't make those rules inherently right. Anyway, it says in there that we do consider things on a case by case basis, which I agree is a fair enough way to sort things out. Riley has voiced his opinion, you have and so have I. - I didn't consult anyone because anyone else interested in creating the wiki's rules (TheGoodman and Faded-Myth) have already left by the pointed I added it, and the current MoS is fair and logical. If you were to rewrite the MoS to contain an ultimatum of either "we must keep ALL comparison trivia regardless of how strong/weak the similarities are" or "NO comparison Trivia on the wiki - no exceptions", then I would have to object because that's extremely stupid and backwards logic. —AlexShepherd ツ 21:21, August 28, 2016 (UTC)
I have every fucking right as an individual with an opinion to say "I don't care" to an asinine MOS when it's been changed by a single person without any consultation, which is rather hypocritical to even mention that changes should be proposed if any of the administration wasn't contacted about newer placed rules.
