- This article is for the nightclub known as The Balkan. For the church from the original Silent Hill, see Balkan Church.
The Balkan is a nightclub visited in Silent Hill: Shattered Memories. It is famous in Silent Hill and recognized as the best place where young adults can go to party.
Silent Hill: Shattered Memories[]
After leaving Midwich High School, Harry Mason follows Michelle Valdez to the Balkan, where she sings, mixes drinks, and lives on the second floor. After leaving Michelle downstairs while he searches her room for her keys, he returns and has a short conversation with Michelle and then goes to the restroom; upon his return, he finds that a young woman identifying herself as Dahlia is sitting in Michelle's place. Dahlia seems surprised at his confusion, although she isn't interested enough to explain anything to him. She tells him she came to pick up the SUV parked outside to take Harry to Simmons St., where he would meet up with Cheryl at his current address. Harry and Dahlia then leave the Balkan.
Variations[]
The Balkan has three variations of interior lighting that changes depending on which ending you are closest to: blue ("Drunk Dad"-associated), neutral ("Love Lost"-associated) and red ("Sleaze and Sirens"-associated).
Symbolism[]
The Balkan nightclub is the counterpart to the Balkan Church from the first Silent Hill. While the original Balkan was a holy place for spiritual worship, the Balkan nightclub is more a representation of sin and vice, where materialistic desires outweigh moralistic idealism.
